With most computers, its like driving a car off the dealership lot; lose money the moment you take the car. Computers fall into the same analogy. As soon as you take the computer home or have it delivered to your house, its essentially worth nothing. Good luck trying to sell any 1 year old computer component thats been used. AMD 3800+, ATI 9600 cards… what are those?
Apple computers fall into a weird niche where its ok to buy a 2 year old computer. Who would have thought that? Just as an example, my 2 year old powerbook which I bought for under $2000 can be sold on ebay for roughly $800 CAD. Thats with 1 hour to go in the auction.
Maybe spending the extra $1000 to upgrade my laptop will actually benefit www.loleeplanet.com. Or maybe thats my brain trying to convince me to upgrade my laptop. I’m sure all the mac-whoring in my office isn’t helping :/
