Its still snowing in the meantime. if anything, Harder than it was before with a crazy swirling wind. The Dogs are having a great time in it now as well. That’s right, dogs! We are dog-sitting for Flora’s coworker. Let me tell you that the work isn’t proportional to the the number of dogs. its more of an exponential increase… I’m tired

Here’s some pictures from earlier in the day. Any more snow, and Laifu will completely disappear into the snow!

Matt got Brier last weekend and he brought her over during Hockey Day In Canada. Brier is only 10 weeks but already bigger (just slightly) than Laifu. Brier is a mix between Great Pyrenees and another white big dog (will check the breed again…). Basically Brier is going to be a big girl! She still has baby teeth and really soft fur but she’ll be a few times bigger than Laifu when she’s fully grown in a few months.

The good news is that Laifu likes Brier so far and they played a good two hours last night. Here are some classic pictures of the night.

I love this one…. Brier looks so innocent while Laifu seems like she’s going to chew her head off =). But really, laifu always have that vein-filled face when she plays….

Laifu sleeps after playing so hard with Brier, while Brier is also completely out on the floor. I tried to wake Brier up but she was determined it was her bedtime =).

It finally snowed and Laifu becomes crazy about the new scenary. I took her to the park close to our house and she had lots of fun running around in snow. She’s slowly growing some fur back and hopefully she’ll be puffy again soon.

And finally after Laifu and I were both really tired, we headed home and you know what i saw on the way home???? This Bernese Mountain Dog is sledding a little girl =). So cute! i had to take this picture…… I told the baby’s parents that I’m going to train Laifu to sled as well but they told me shiba inus aren’t up for those tasks =(.

My parents have been complaining that Laifu is too fat. We think she’s just got too much fur on her… Lately this theory has been proven since she’s been shedding like crazy. I’m glad that I’m not allergic to dog fur but I have a feeling that if she continues on this pattern twice a year (Shiba Inus shed twice a year), I just may reach the threshold and become allergic! Let’s hope that doesn’t happen…

We’ve been vaccuming on a weekly basis and this week the whole container (we have those portable ones) was full with Laifu’s fur. She doesn’t enjoy being brushed but i forced it on her anyway. This morning we went to the big park and she ran into the woods as usual. She came out with a huge patch of black stinky mark on her neck (most likely rolled in some dead animal.. they dogs think it’s premiere perfume), so we had to bath her right after we came home. So we did… and HOLY MOLLY! does she ever shed!!!! There was so much fur coming off that i’m surprised our drain hasn’t completely clogged up (though the draining rate has become really slow). And since she also hates hairdryers, we put her infront of the fireplace to dry herself. I’m not kidding, she lost half of her body size after the shower!!!!! You can be the judge:

I took a shower afterwards and i discovered a hole inside the tub! DID LAIFU BREAK MY BATHTUB??!! Wow, that’s pretty impressive. I mean, I don’t think i can make a hole in my bathtub in a 20min shower! I tried to take a picture but it was hard to take one that would show the whole tub and the hole. So I drew it. The hole is about 2cm in diameter and is in the insdie of the bath tub on the shower curtain side.

About a week ago, I went to the park after dinner (daily routine) where I met Doc (owns Daryl) and Zeus (owns Stephanie). Just to clarify, we dog owners are owned by the dogs, not the other way around.. Doc and Zeous were playing together and Laifu really wanted to join them, so i got the permission and next thing i know, they’re chasing each other =). I don’t know much about dog breeds (will find out later) but they’re about twice the size of Laifu. And I’m proud to say that Laifu’s a tough girl and she stands up to her bigger playing mates.

So we kept this up for a few days and I got to know Stephanie and Daryl a bit more. It feels like in the tv shows how parents gathered at the playground and chat around while their kids play together… Actually that’s exactly how I felt…. a bit scary for some reason =).

BUT, being Laifu the I-am-smarter-than-you-are dog, she quickly got bored of Doc and Suz and realized that the park had no fence so she could freely run away. And she DID! We tried again the next day and she also tried to run off on her own to see other parts of the neighbourhood. So that’s it for now, we couldn’t let her just run around anymore… We need to do a better job to train Laifu to listen to commands like “come”.

Anyway… Laifu sleeps alot at home cuz she’s tired from playing, and here are a couple of her typical sleeping guestures.
